Implementation: In-Plant Recycling of Extruded and Molded Scrap for Improved Sustainability

Extruded and molded product producers have three options for handling internal scrap: re-use, sell or dispose of it. No matter the choice, some type of reprocessing is either required or beneficial.

Presented by:

Vecoplan

This three-part course covers the logistics, economics and processing technologies used for reprocessing extruded/molded products, emphasizing the integration of reclaimed materials into the final product and in-house recycling programs.

Agenda:

  • Analyze the required processing technologies for recovery of plastic scrap: material handling, size reduction, storage and transportation, sortation, contamination removal, blending and feeding systems, pelletizing, etc.
  • Identify factors to consider when determining best reclaim form for introduction back into the production process
  • Detail processing technologies and other considerations required for successful reintroduction of scrap materials back into the primary production lines
  • Future consideration
